Keeping our employees safe (COVID-19/PPE update)
LEADING WITH OUR CORE VALUES
In March the COVID-19 Pandemic quickly shifted our safety committee’s focus, we quickly learned how we can successfully operate as an ”essential“ business. We have not only focused on our teams at work, but their families, our customers, and partners in business. Our people have stepped up to the challenge providing input and feedback on all of the local protocol at each location as we operate in nine different sites across the US and Canada. Learning to operate in this ”new normal“ condition has been challenging and a tremendous learning experience. Our dedication and efforts to our employees’ health and safety are a direct reflection of our Core Value; We Care About Each Other.
WORKING FROM HOME & OUR NEW NORMAL
PJ has been complying with the CDC guidelines, as well as, state and county safety mandates. From the onset of COVID-19 we have moved all positions with the ability to work from home off-site to reduce the spread of the virus. We plan to keep the work from home positions out of the office through 2020 and will reassess at that time for the future. For our warehouse and service employees, we have provided masks (two different styles for personal comfort), added daily cleaning procedures, and paid particular attention to congregation areas (break rooms, coffee stations, etc.) and entrances to our buildings.
TRANSPARENCY & COMMUNICATION
Transparency in communication and listening to our employees have been our first defense in keeping people safe. We have done surveys to check on our remote employees’ mental health and comfort level of working from home and our annual all-employee pulse survey had a COVID-19 focused response section. Through listening to our team we have implemented more onsite safety measures, increased signage for mask required areas, placed chaining at service equipment entrances to keep the general population at a safe social distance, and we have also provided additional safety measures for field service technicians as they go out to service calls.
We continue to monitor new guidelines and mandates as the climate is ever-changing. The only constant is that our employees’ health and safety remain our top priority. We continue to be thankful for our dedicated team members and loyal customers.
