How to Determine the Engine Flywheel Offset

Jeff & Jim tackle a common question that we receive here at Palmer Johnson Power Systems, “How do you measure the offset of an industrial engine?” They provide instructions on how to measure the offset of an industrial engine properly.

Being able to provide the engine offset is required in new applications and repowers of several pieces of drivetrain components in industrial off-highway equipment such as gearboxes, pump drives, transmissions, transfer cases, PTOs, couplings, and more.

Download the SAE standards document below to assist in determining the flywheel offset of an industrial engine. The needed measurement is the Y dimension.
