Punching Back at Supply Chain Issues

It’s no secret that supply chain issues have wreaked havoc on the US economy, and the off-highway drivetrain component industry is no different. We have seen this issue firsthand with manufacturers increasing lead times, in some instances doubling and tripling from typical lead times. As a result, items typically in stock and readily available at the factories are no longer available.

In the past two years, with the ever-changing supply chain landscape, Palmer Johnson quickly adjusted, implementing strategies to counteract the supply chain issues with the ultimate goal of better serving our customers.

Increased Inventory Levels

We have increased our inventory levels across the board to reflect the longer lead times we have been experiencing from manufacturers. We also focused on fast-moving items and popular product lines. As a result, we currently have a 96% in-stock rate for fast-moving items, a significant improvement from 2020/2021.

We placed particular emphasis on Twin Disc PTOs, clutches, 8500 series transmission parts, Funk pump drives, and Durst pump drives by more than doubling inventory on these product lines. We have continued to increase our inventory levels and are currently at more than $16M worth of inventory between our warehouses.
